Faith Leader Participant's Guides (set of 4 books)
By Beth Pattillo
Faith Leader is a 28-session, small group experience in spiritual leadership development.
Spirituality--the depth of relationship with God, self, and others--is the core of Faith Leader, which grew out of the desire to help people within the local church grow as spiritual leaders. Through twenty-six weekly sessions and two retreats, Faith Leader participants will discover authentic ways to engage in leadership in their congregations and in their communities.
This set of four Participant's Guides are the tools for each person in Faith Leader.
Participant's Guide I: Spiritual Self-Discovery, including biblical models of leadership, spiritual gifts, and spiritual types.
Participant's Guide II: Spiritual Practices, including an assessment of spiritual life, exploration of new ways to connect with God, and developing a guide for living that will enhance our spiritual lives.
Participant's Guide III: Discernment, including personal and congregational aspects of identifying God's presence and intention in our lives.
Participant's Guide IV: The Personal Plan for Ministry, including a review of what we've learned in the program, a detailed worksheet for developing a ministry plan, and the support of other participants in identifying and articulating the ministry plan.

“We now have leaders who are not afraid to talk about their faith, who are not afraid to lead, who are excited about ministry, and who are not afraid to speak of the transforming power of God in their lives, in the church, and in the world.”
—Helen Enari, pastor of Spiritual Formation and Outreach Ministries, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Bloomington, Indiana
“Here is a resource for a church that is committed to spiritual formation. This material grows from the contemplative stream of the Christian faith and includes all of Richard Foster’s streams. It moves beyond education about the faith to formation in the faith by focusing on the individual’s deep growth through experiencing the spiritual practices.”
—Donna Scott, executive director emerita, Stillpoint, Programs in Spiritual Direction and Contemplative Prayer, Inc., Nashville
“We have used the Faith Leader material in two churches…All I can say is that it changes lives and it changes the churches where these students live out their ministry plans.”
