Messages of Hope: When the Church is Woke

Messages of Hope: When the Church is Woke

From the sermon “Wake Up and Stay Woke!”

by Rev. Dr. Michael W. Waters

At times like these, when the church is needed the most, the church is slumbering. And a wake-up call is undeniably in order. It’s time for the alarm clock to ring.
When the church is woke, new life comes to dead situations and overcomes fatal circumstances.

When the church is woke, signs and wonders follow.

When the church is woke, healing and deliverance take place.

When the church is woke, the people are not condemned, but they are empowered.

Church, in times like these, we must wake up! And stay woke!

Michael W. Waters is founding pastor of Joy Tabernacle African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in Dallas, Texas, and the author of several books including Stakes Is High: Race, Faith, and Hope for America and the forthcoming For Beautiful Black Boys Who Believe in a Better World
